LYNN CHANCEL’S FIRST RITE OF INITIATION

LYNN CHANCEL’S FIRST RITE OF INITIATION
January 3, 2022 by author

In the spirit of the Adventide, congregants of the Lynn Chancel and Towers Mission had the opportunity of renewing their baptismal vows on Sunday, 12 December, 2021. This was made possible as the Chancel held its first Anglican rite of initiation into the Christian Church.

The sacrament of baptism as it commonly called was performed on Master Ian and presided by the President of the Chancel, The Very Rev’d Dr Fyneface Akah who charged the worshippers to remain faithful to their own baptismal vows especially in the face of their battles against the devil, the world and the flesh.

Saying the homily, The Ven Dr Dandeson Emmanuel-Yorgio charged for the acceptance of baptism, especially its sprinkling form, by all as a means of grace which is supported by the example of the Lord Christ himself whose form of the baptismal rite, in contra to popular theology, is agnostic. He also took a swipe at the initiation rite of infants which he says is properly embedded in Scripture.

The Pedobaptism ritual was accompanied by its concomitant liturgy of churching of the infant, Sarima Iyayi, after childbirth.
